Medical Malpractice and Acute Appendicitis

Medical malpractice and Acute Appendicitis: Appendicitis is one of the top five diseases for malpractice, in terms of dollar awards. This fact is because appendicitis is difficult to diagnose in the emergency room, because there are many other causes of abdominal pain. However, appendicitis has severe outcomes if overlooked, particularly in younger patients. Unfortunately, misdiagnosis rates for appendicitis are very high for children, and particularly high for infants.
