Risk Factors for Anorexia
| About risk factors: Risk factors for Anorexia are factors that do not seem to be a direct cause of the disease, but seem to be associated in some way. Having a risk factor for Anorexia makes the chances of getting a condition higher but does not always lead to Anorexia. Also, the absence of any risk factors or having a protective factor does not necessarily guard you against getting Anorexia. For general information and a list of risk factors, see the risk center. |
Risk factors discussion:
Those with anorexia are often characterized as
perfectionists and overachievers who appear to be in control. In
reality, they suffer from low self-esteem and confidence and overly
criticize themselves. They are also very concerned about pleasing
others. 1
