Fetal death and medical malpractice: Medical Malpractice
Fetal death and medical malpractice: The death of a child is always a tragedy. Such deaths are a relatively high cause of medical malpractice lawsuits. Various medical failings can be alleged as the cause of stillbirth; see malpractice and childbirth. One study reported stillbirth or fetal death as the cause of 7.1% of birth injury malpractice lawsuits (Suing for Medical Malpractice, Sloan et al, 1993).
