False positives: Erroneous test result indicating a positive result
Introduction: A false positive is a test result that is incorrect, with a positive result wrongly indicating you do have a condition. For example, a pregnancy test saying that you are pregnant when you are not, is a false positive, because it is a "positive" result indicating you are pregnant. Almost all medical tests have some risk of false positives or false negatives. See also false negatives.
