About: Adherence rates for osteoporosis treatment regimens is very poor

Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by Medical News Today): Research shows that adherence to osteoporosis treatment regimens is generally poor – at least half of post menopausal women fail to take their treatment seriously. This is because it often has to be taken daily and under fairly rigid conditions. Also, osteoporosis is generally asymptomatic which makes it seem less relevant in people’s minds. Medication that is taken weekly is adhered to a little better but ideally, new treatment options need to be discovered to counteract this lack of adherence.
