Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by Ivanhoe Newswire): Hospitalized asthmatics don’t maintain their asthma treatment regimen for very long following discharge claims a study group. After analyzing 52 people who were hospitalized for a severe asthma attack, they found that medications were reduced to 50% of prescribed dosage within a week (especially inhaled medications). Medication reduction was associated with increasing severity of symptoms. Black people are 2 or 3 times more likely to be hospitalized or to die from asthma than other population groups.
