Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by The Boston Channel): Millions of Americans, especially women, have a condition called cardiac syndrome X. The condition is very hard to diagnose and is often misdiagnosed as stress and depression. During the attempts to diagnose the condition, stress tests are abnormal which leads to an invasive, diagnostic cardiac catheterization which usually reveals no heart abnormality. The abnormality actually exists in the microvessels of the heart and can cause chest pain, fatigue and aching legs. A Florida cardiologist is creating new awareness about the condition and has developed a machine that can rejuvenate the arteries by circulating the blood from the legs to the heart. The machine is called an Enhanced External Counter Pulsation.
