Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by Birmingham Post): The UK carries a huge burden for diabetes type 2 and the resulting diseases such as kidney failure and heart disease. If left untreated, 25% of diabetics will die of kidney failure within five years and 33% will die from heart disease or stroke. However, a new study has been able to reduce this rate substantially by use of an ACE inhibitor (Enalapril) or an angiotensin receptor blocker (Temisartan).
