Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by ic Birmingham): A woman claims that a doctor on call refused to see her doctor when he was suffering from severe pain. Several months later he died of leukemia. The man initially started suffering from back pain which intensified as time went on. An x-ray revealed nothing. On one occasion, the doctor organized for the man to have some pain relief tablets which made no difference. On a following occasion when the doctor was called, she refused to see the man despite his excruciating pain. His wife took the doctor to the medical disciplinary committee where she won her case but it was overturned two years later. The doctor is now suspended for organizing illegally late abortions. The doctor is also facing two police investigations and a General Medical Council hearing. The wife tells how she had been to see the same doctor many years ago and she was mistakenly diagnosed as being pregnant. The wife simply wants further investigation into the doctor’s history of behavior.
