Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by Kennebec Journal): A woman sought treatment from her doctor after suffering certain symptoms. The doctor put her on anti-depressants. After failing to improve she sought out her doctor who happened to be away. The physician’s assistant took over and had an ultrasound done. Ovarian cancer was discovered. Surgery left some cancer still on her liver and hip. Doctors told her that her chance of survival had gone from 80% before the surgery to 75% after the surgery. Inadequate treatment by nurses saw her returning home the next day and chemo commenced several weeks later. She believes that if the original doctor had done his job properly, she would have been diagnosed sooner and had a better prognosis.
