Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by MSNBC News): In 1997 saw a doctor because of abdominal problems – the doctor said it was stress related. When problems persisted the doctor did a sigmoidoscopy which came back normal. He was then told he had Irritable Bowel Syndrome. He then started to have severe rectal bleeding which doctors said was due to food poisoning and Hepatitis A which he actually did have. No further tests were done to diagnose the bleeding. After further massive bleed the doctor said he had hemorrhoids but did no tests. He then changed insurance companies and hence doctors who finally did a colonoscopy and discovered colon cancer. He was by then in stage 3 colon cancer and had to have a third of his colon removed.
