Medical News Summary (summary of medical news story as reported by eDiets): Numerous studies have shown that cold liver oil, which contains omega-3 fatty acids, helps prevent heart disease. It has now been suggested that it may also help with mental health disorders such a depression, bipolar disorder and suicide. It is recommended that people have at least 3,000 mg of omega-3 fat which is only found in seafood. This is the equivalent of two three-ounce serves of Atlantic salmon each week. Walnuts and flaxseed are an inadequate substitute for fish.
