Organ: Blood pressure
Blood pressure: The level of pressure of the blood in blood vessels
Introduction: Blood is a fluid circulating in a close system. Just like any pipes, there is a "pressure" at which the fluid is maintained. Blood has a pressure that is maintained within a normal range by various aspects of the circulatory system, such as the heart (pumps to increase/maintain pressure), walls of blood vessels (muscles constrict or dilate blood vessels to increase or reduce blood pressure), clotting (which maintains a closed system by preventing leakage, i.e. bleeding), and numerous other aspects. High blood pressure is called hypertension; low blood pressure is called hypotension.
