Associated Conditions of Peptic Ulcer
| About associated conditions: Associated conditions are those which appear statistically related, but do not have a clear cause or effect relationship. Whereas the complications are caused by Peptic Ulcer, and underlying causes may be causes of Peptic Ulcer, the following list shows associated conditions that simply appear with higher frequency in people who have Peptic Ulcer. In some cases, there may be overlap between this list and risk factors for Peptic Ulcer. People with Peptic Ulcer may be more likely to get a condition on the list of associated conditions, or the reverse may be true, or both. Associated conditions: A relationship between smoking cigarettes and ulcers, especially duodenal ulcers, does exist. The 1989 Surgeon General's report stated that ulcers are more likely to occur, less likely to heal, and more likely to cause death in smokers than in nonsmokers. 1
