Contagious: Salmonella food poisoning
| About contagion: Contagion and contagiousness refers to how easily the spread of Salmonella food poisoning is possible from one person to another. Other words for contagion include "infection", "infectiousness", "transmission" or "transmissability". Contagiousness has nothing to do with genetics or inheriting diseases from parents. For an overview of contagion, see Introduction to Contagion. |
Contagion discussion: People, including babies, with diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidia or other diarrhea- causing microbes, such as Giardia and Salmonella, can infect others while using swimming pools, waterparks, hot tubs, and spas. 1
Salmonella passes from the feces of people or animals, to
other people or other animals. There are many different kinds of
Salmonella bacteria. Salmonella serotype Typhimurium
and Salmonella serotype Enteritidis are the most common in the
United States.
