Contagious: Shingles
| About contagion: Contagion and contagiousness refers to how easily the spread of Shingles is possible from one person to another. Other words for contagion include "infection", "infectiousness", "transmission" or "transmissability". Contagiousness has nothing to do with genetics or inheriting diseases from parents. Contagion summary: Patients with shingles are contagious in that they can infect others with chicken pox, but not with shingles!

Contagious overall?: Yes, but infectious with chicken pox not shingles
Contagious by physical contact (non-sexual)?: Yes
Contagious for a different disease?: Yes, people with shingles transmit chicken pox
Contagion summary:
Contact with a person with shingles may cause chickenpox (but not
shingles) in someone who has never had chickenpox before.
