Symptoms of Toxic Shock Syndrome: Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) manifests by sudden onset of fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pains and rash. Hypotension and mucous membrane, multisystem involvement and later desquamation are features of the disease. 1
TSS is a rare but potentially deadly disease. The risk of TSS can be lessened or avoided by not using tampons, or by alternating between tampons and pads during your period.
