Introduction: X-linked Genetic Diseases
X-linked Genetic Diseases: X-linked genetic conditions are genetic diseases affecting the sex chromosomes X and Y. They are called "x-linked" or "sex-linked" genetic conditions. (For comparison, non-sex chromosomes 1..22 are called "autosomes" and the resulting conditions called autosomal genetic diseases.)
X-linked diseases can be recessive or dominant. See x-linked recessive diseases and x-linked dominant diseases. However, x-linked recessive diseases are better known.
